The 2 TB hard drives here are SATA drives from Seagate and WD in two sizes. The 3.5 inch desktop drives are the WD Blue WD20EZBX and Seagate BarraCuda ST2000DM008 at 7200 RPM, and the BarraCuda ST2000DM005 at 5400 RPM. The 2.5 inch laptop drives are the WD Blue WD20SPZX and BarraCuda ST2000LM015. For NAS there are the IronWolf ST2000VN003 and IronWolf Pro ST2000NT001, and for CCTV the SkyHawk ST2000VX017, rated for up to 64 HD cameras.
Choose by where the drive goes. A desktop tower takes a 3.5 inch drive, and the 7200 RPM models open files faster than the 5400 RPM ones. A laptop needs a 2.5 inch bay, which many newer laptops lack, so check before buying. NAS boxes and DVR or NVR units run all day, which is what the IronWolf and SkyHawk drives are built for. The desktop drives, laptop drives and WD models each have a page of their own. WD covers its drives for 2 years. Seagate gives 2 years on BarraCuda, 3 years on IronWolf and SkyHawk, and 5 years on IronWolf Pro.
