The Core Ultra 5 chips here are Intel's Arrow Lake desktop processors for the LGA1851 socket. They run from the 10 core Core Ultra 5 225 and 225F (up to 4.9 GHz) through the 14 core 235 (up to 5.0 GHz) to the unlocked 14 core 245K and 245KF (up to 5.2 GHz). Intel covers all of them with a 3 year warranty.
Choose between them on three points. The 225, 225F and 235 are 65 W parts that come with an Intel cooler. The 245K and 245KF are rated at 125 W, boost to 159 W and ship without a cooler, so budget for a capable air or liquid cooler. Models ending in F have no integrated graphics and need a graphics card. The others can run a display from the motherboard. The K chips are unlocked for overclocking, which also needs a motherboard chipset that allows it. All of them need an LGA1851 motherboard and take DDR5 memory only.
Frequently asked questions
Will a Core Ultra 5 fit my LGA1700 motherboard? No. These processors use the LGA1851 socket and need an LGA1851 motherboard. Older LGA1700 boards will not take them.
What is the difference between the 245K and the 245KF? Both have 14 cores and a 5.2 GHz boost. The 245KF lacks integrated graphics, so it needs a dedicated graphics card.
Is the Core Ultra 5 225 enough for gaming? With a graphics card it handles mainstream gaming and everyday work. The 235 and 245K add four more cores for streaming and heavier multitasking.
