AMD B840 Series Motherboards

These are AM5 boards built on AMD's B840 chipset. All of them have DDR5 memory, two M.2 slots and four SATA ports, and they take AMD Ryzen desktop processors made for the AM5 socket. Gigabyte's range runs from the basic B840M D2H and B840M DS3H to the B840M EAGLE WIFI6 and B840M AORUS ELITE WIFI6E. MSI offers the PRO B840M-B, PRO B840M-P WIFI6E and B840M GAMING PLUS WIFI6E, plus the full-size ATX PRO B840-P WIFI.

Three things separate these boards: size, RAM slots and wireless. Every board here is micro-ATX except the MSI PRO B840-P WIFI, the one ATX option. The D2H, EAGLE WIFI6, PRO B840M-B and B840M GAMING WIFI6E have two RAM slots and take up to 128 GB. The others have four slots and take up to 256 GB, which leaves more room to add memory later. Which processors work on a B840 motherboard? B840 boards use the AM5 socket, so they take AMD Ryzen desktop processors made for AM5. Older AM4 Ryzen chips will not fit.

Can DDR4 RAM be used on these boards? No. Every B840 board here supports DDR5 memory only.

Do all these boards have Wi-Fi? No. The Gigabyte B840M D2H and B840M DS3H and the MSI PRO B840M-B are wired only. The rest have built-in Wi-Fi.
