The Ryzen 5000 Series processors here are all Zen 3 chips for the AM4 socket. They run from the 6-core, 12-thread Ryzen 5 5600X and Ryzen 5 5600GT with Radeon graphics, through the 8-core Ryzen 7 5800X and the Ryzen 7 5800X3D with 3D V-Cache, to the 12-core Ryzen 9 5900X and the 16-core Ryzen 9 5900XT and Ryzen 9 5950X, with boost clocks of up to 4.9 GHz. AMD covers them with a 3 year warranty.
For gaming, the 5800X3D's extra cache is the main reason to pick it. For rendering, video editing and heavy multitasking, the 12- and 16-core Ryzen 9 chips are the ones to look at. The 5600GT is the only model with built-in graphics, so it can run without a graphics card. Every other model needs one. Only the two Ryzen 5 chips include a cooler. The 105 W Ryzen 7 and Ryzen 9 models need a separate air or liquid cooler. Each tier also has its own page: Ryzen 5, Ryzen 7 and Ryzen 9.
Frequently asked questions
Which motherboards and memory do Ryzen 5000 processors use? They fit AM4 motherboards and use DDR4 memory. Older AM4 boards may need a BIOS update before they recognise a 5000 Series chip.
What is the difference between the Ryzen 7 5800X and 5800X3D? Both have 8 cores and 16 threads. The 5800X3D adds 3D V-Cache, which helps in games, while the 5800X has a higher boost clock of 4.7 GHz.
Can I use a Ryzen 5 5600X without a graphics card? No, the 5600X has no integrated graphics. The 5600GT does.
