AMD B450 Series Motherboards

The AMD B450 boards here are all micro ATX (mATX) motherboards for the AM4 socket and DDR4 memory: the Gigabyte B450M DS3H WIFI, B450M DS3H V3 and B450M K, and the ASUS PRIME B450M-K II. Each has one M.2 slot and four SATA ports. The two DS3H boards carry four RAM slots for up to 128 GB. The B450M K and PRIME B450M-K II have two slots for up to 64 GB. Only the B450M DS3H WIFI has built-in Wi-Fi.

The real choices are memory slots and wireless. A two-slot board suits a budget Ryzen build that will run one 2 x 8 GB or 2 x 16 GB kit. A four-slot DS3H leaves room to add RAM later. Pick the DS3H WIFI if the PC cannot reach the router by cable. B450 is an AM4 chipset, so these boards take AM4 Ryzen processors and DDR4 only. AM5 processors will not fit them. The Gigabyte boards have a page of their own, as does the ASUS board.

Frequently asked questions

Which processors work on a B450 motherboard? AM4 Ryzen processors. Newer AM4 chips can need a BIOS update first, so check the board's BIOS version before installing one.

Can I use DDR5 RAM on a B450 board? No. Every board here uses DDR4 memory only.

What is the difference between the B450M DS3H V3 and the B450M DS3H WIFI? Both have four RAM slots, one M.2 slot and four SATA ports. The WIFI version adds built-in wireless networking.
