AMD Ryzen 5 5000 Series Processors

The AMD Ryzen 5 5000 Series processors here are the Ryzen 5 5600X and the Ryzen 5 5600GT. Both are 6 core, 12 thread Zen 3 chips for the AM4 socket, boosting up to 4.6 GHz at 65 W, with a cooler in the box. AMD covers them with a 3 year warranty.

The choice comes down to graphics. The 5600X has no integrated graphics and needs a graphics card, but adds PCIe 4.0 and a larger cache for gaming builds. The 5600GT has Radeon graphics built in, enough for office work, coding and light gaming without a card.

Frequently asked questions

Will these fit an AM4 motherboard? Yes, both use the AM4 socket and DDR4 memory; older AM4 boards may need a BIOS update before they recognise Zen 3 chips.

Which suits a gaming PC with a graphics card? The 5600X, since the 5600GT runs its PCIe slots at 3.0 and has less cache.
