The MSI RTX 5070 cards here share the same GeForce RTX 5070 chip, 12 GB of video memory, a 250 W board power, a single 16-pin power connector and PCIe 5.0. What differs is the cooler and the size. The range runs from the dual-fan SHADOW 2X OC (231 mm) and VENTUS 2X OC (236 mm), through the triple-fan INSPIRE 3X OC, VENTUS 3X OC and SHADOW 3X OC, to the 338 mm GAMING TRIO OC and the 61 mm thick VANGUARD SOC. The GAMING TRIO OC and VENTUS 2X OC also come in white. MSI covers them with a 3 year warranty.
Check case clearance first. The 2X models suit Micro-ATX and small cases. The 3X cards, at 288 to 303 mm, fit most mid towers. The GAMING TRIO OC and VANGUARD SOC need a roomy case. Larger coolers run cooler and quieter under long gaming loads, while performance between the models differs only slightly. All of them are aimed at 1440p gaming with ray tracing and DLSS 4.
Frequently asked questions
Will an MSI RTX 5070 work on a PCIe 4.0 motherboard? Yes. PCIe 5.0 cards work in PCIe 4.0 and 3.0 x16 slots, with only a small performance difference.
What power supply does an MSI RTX 5070 need? MSI recommends a 650 W PSU for all these models. It should have a 16-pin cable, or you can use a suitable adapter.
Should I choose the VENTUS 2X OC or the GAMING TRIO OC? Both have the same chip and memory. The 236 mm VENTUS 2X OC fits small cases, while the 338 mm GAMING TRIO OC runs cooler and quieter.
