500 GB 2.5 Inch SATA SSDs
Samsung 870 EVO 500GB SATA 2.5 SSD
The Samsung 870 EVO 500GB (MZ-77E500B/AM) is the one 500 GB 2.5 inch SATA SSD on this page. It uses Samsung's V-NAND flash and reads and writes at up to 560/530 MB/s, close to the limit of the SATA III interface. Samsung covers it with a 5 year warranty.
It suits a laptop or desktop with a 2.5 inch bay and a SATA port, usually as a replacement for a hard disk as the boot drive. Desktops need a SATA data cable and a SATA power connector. If the motherboard has an M.2 NVMe slot, an NVMe drive will be faster.
Frequently asked questions
Will the 870 EVO work in an older laptop or PC? Yes, if it has a 2.5 inch bay and a SATA port. On an older SATA II port it works at lower speeds.
Is 500 GB enough for a boot drive? It holds Windows, everyday software and a few games, with a hard disk for bulk files.
