The WD PCIe Gen 4 NVMe drives here come from three ranges. The WD Black SN850X runs from 1TB to 8TB with reads up to 7300 MB/s, in bare and with Heatsink versions. The WD Black SN7100 comes in 1TB, 2TB and 4TB at up to 7250/6900 MB/s, and the WD Blue SN5100 in 1TB and 2TB at up to 7100/6700 MB/s. All are M.2 drives, and WD covers them with a 5 year warranty.
The three ranges are close in speed, so the choice comes down to capacity and cooling. The SN850X is the only range here offered up to 8TB and the only one with a factory heatsink, which suits a PS5 or a board without an M.2 cover. The SN7100 has the highest write speeds on the page in its 1TB and 2TB models. The Blue SN5100 suits everyday desktops and laptop upgrades. Laptops and slim builds need a drive without a heatsink. The 1 TB and 2 TB models also have their own pages.
